Submissions
We welcome submissions to Jazz Out of The Mainstream. If you or
someone you know is a jazz performer and they are interested in
being a guest on our show, we would love to consider them.
We have a few basic rules that we live by:
- Only artists that are playing actively are interviewed.
- Only artists that are not represented by a jazz label or any other recording label will be invited to be on the show.
- Until we start doing live recording sessions each artist needs pre-produced music on CD. We need as much as 30 minutes of
music to have a balanced show, talk to music ratio. The music need not be a replicated CD (from a pressing plant) but the
artist must be able to provide us with appropriate clearances. This means if a song is an original work and never before
published (mechanical rights granted for duplication) then the author’s permission to broadcast is required. Songs that have
been previously published are covered under stature rights agreements and by Performance Rights Organizations - ASCAP, BMI,
SESAC
- Each artist must agree to sign, and have the authority to sign, a broadcast rights agreement giving us the right to use
their performance, their voice, and image on the show and on the Internet.
- Each artist invited to the show must be willing to come to
our studio facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
- Each submission has to be evaluated by our panel of
producers to determine if the submission is appropriate for our
show. First and foremost each submission must be jazz. No other
style will be considered.
- Each artist understands that we do not pay any appearance fee nor do we charge any fee for appearance.
We can’t and won’t be responsible for any materials sent to us and we won’t send them back. Not because we don’t care but because our
first obligation is to get the show done each week. We will send you an e-mail or letter telling you if the panel accepted or rejected
your submission. Oh yea you must tell how to get in touch with you, we positively hate phone tag.
If after reading all the above you would like to make a submission you must provide the following:
- The music you would like for us to consider, remember on CD
only.
- A biographical page telling us something about yourself and
the jazz you play, a picture would be nice but not necessary
(after all it’s radio).
- The submission form filled out. Don’t forget the contact
info and to sign it.

- Mail it to the address on the form.
We look forward to hearing from you and wish you good luck with
your music!
